Facilities
- Pattern Making
- Approximately 600m2 of fully equipped manufacturing facility
- Patterns up to 4m x 4m produced in wood, polystyrene, resin, etc.
Moulding
- Two moulding shops, one of 1000m2 with 5T to 10T craneage and a 20T / hour moulding sand capability, the second of 1100m2 with 10T to 20T cranes and a 35T / hour moulding sand capability
- Chemically bonded, air-setting sand systems used including furan, chrome furan, pepset, chrome pepset and zircon
- Sands are reclaimed via a system that processes used sand at 15T / hour by attrition and 1T / hour by thermal means
- Cores can be made in both shops, size being the determining factor
Melting
- One melting shop of approximately 600m2 with 10T and 20T cranes
- 2 x 3.5T and 1 x 11T, 1750kW, high frequency, induction furnaces which can deliver 18T of molten metal when run concurrently
- Feedstock segregated and available according to grade (e.g. duplex, stainless, low carbon, etc.) and origin of manufacture (eg. normal production, A.O.D., B.O.S., etc.)
- Fully calibrated, dip type pyrometrey used for temperature control
- Melt analysis carried out on a fully calibrated ARL 3460 optical emission spectrometer (20 chemical element capability including Nitrogen)
Fettling / Dressing / Welding
- Total available floor space of approximately 2000m2
- Initial annealing (prior to feeder removal) and preheating (of relevant grades) carried out on a gas fired, up tp 1100C, 30T capacity, 4m x 2.5m x 2m, bogey hearth furnace
- Fully tiled, fully programmable, 3.5m diameter, 10T capacity, automated shotblast
- Booth type, hand blast for items up to 2m diameter
- Quality heat treatment (normalising, annealing, stress relieving, tempering, austenitising) carried out on a 2m high, gas fired, up tp 1100C, 45T capacity, twin 6m x 5m hearth furnace
- Welders qualified to ASME IX EN288 and BS4570
Testing and Inspection
- Mechanical testing sub-contracted to fully qualified NAMAS approved laboratory
- Non-destructive testing personnel qualified to ASNT level II in dye penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic testing techniques, radiographic interpretation and optional external radiography
- Mark-off table for as-cast dimensional confirmation
- Final inspection shop of approximately 400m2
Transport
- Flexible in-house transport and sub-contracted services available if required
